We often do not think of Jesus having grandparents, but they were so essential to His faith and the faith of His parents. Our grandparents were and are essential to our faith and helped shape us into who we are today. Pope Francis has recognized this and has designated, Sunday, July 25th as the celebration of the First World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. The theme chosen by the Holy Father for this World Day is “I am with you always” (Mt 28:20) which is a way of expressing the closeness of the Lord and the Church to every older person, especially during challenging times.
