Official Statement Concerning E. Victory Oaks
Savannah, GA – Three of the oak trees lining the E. Victory fence of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church will be removed and three new oaks will be planted in their place. To construct a parking lot that is drain compliant, more than 80 years of concrete and asphalt resurfacing had to be removed. During this process, a weakened root system was discovered that could cause a hazard on E. Victory, City and Church property. Both the City and Blessed Sacrament deeply regret the necessity of removing the majestic oaks, but to protect human life and property, they concur that this is the best course of action.
