Fr. Jeremiah McCarthy

On Thursday, August 27, 2020, God called Father Jeremiah J. McCarthy, J.C.L. home. Fr. McCarthy (lovingly known as Fr. Jerry) was pastor at Blessed Sacrament from 1996 to 2013. Fr. Jerry was a dedicated servant of Christ and his people. His legacy will live on in all the lives that he touched. He always had a warm smile to greet you and an Irish sentiment to share. He will be greatly missed.

Reception of the Body, Visitation, and Vigil Service with Rosary will be at Most Blessed Sacrament Church on Wednesday, September 2nd, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. All may be viewed via live stream on our Blessed Sacrament Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BlessedSacramentCatholicChurchSavannah

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist on Thursday, September 3rd. The mass can be viewed via live stream at www.savannahcathedral.org.

Father Jerry will lie in state for visitation at Fox and Weeks on Monday, August 31st, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Tuesday, September 1st, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Please continue to pray for the happy repose of Fr. Jerry and the comfort and consolation of his family and friends.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed, through the Mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

    I am Cornelius Clancy and Father McCarthys uncle living in New Jersey. I attended his ordination in Dublin 42 years ago. He has attended all the joyful and sorrowful events In those years.Chris my wife and I miss him greatly.He was a saintly Giant as God called and said Well done thou good and faithful servant
